The 4th Cyprus Tulip Festival is being held by the Green Action Group at Tepebasi Village primary school from 11am to 8.30pm on Sunday 6th April 2008. Tepebasi village is roughly midway between Kyrenia and Guzelyurt.
The Green Action Group, which was established in 1988, is organising this festival as part of its public awareness campaign about the importance and protection of the endemics and other flora of Cyprus.
The festival encompasses music, folk dances, and other cultural activities.
When the tulip was introduced to Europe, it caused great excitement, with specimens changing hands for large amounts of money in a frenzy of speculative buying known as "Tulipomania".
