11th International Guzelyurt Culture and Arts Festival
Programme of Events
The 11th International Guzelyurt Culture and Arts Festival is being
held from the 10th to the 17th May, 2008. Organised by the Guzelyurt
Arts Association, performances will be held in Guzelyurt, Lefke and
Lapta. As well as performers from North Cyprus, there will be performers
from Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia. The aim of the festival is
to introduce people to a wide variety of cultural and art events.
Saturday 10th May
8pm. Guzelyurt Ataturk Cultural Centre." There is a Miracle in
Marriage" by the Gusaad Youth Theatre Sunday 11th may
6pm. Guzelyurt Municipality Hotel. A traditional competition to find
the best dessert and meal prepared with citrus fruit. Monday
12th May
Gusad Children's Theatre will stage a play, "Star History", in local
schools. Tuesday 13th May
3pm. There will be a procession from Guzelyurt car park to the
fairground, arriving at 5pm. 5.30pm. There will be an exhibition of
artwork by local women students at the fairground. 7pm. Children's
Night, involving local schools and associations, and teams visiting from
abroad. Wednesday 14th May
7pm. Lefke Cultural centre. Lefke Municipality Folk Dance Night.
Local schools and foreign teams will take part. 8pm. Guzelyurt Ataturk
Cultural Centre. Istder Theatre Group present "Let us keep up Women's
Pride". Thursday 15th May
7pm. METU Modern and Folk Dance night at the University's Kalkanli
campus. Friday 16th May
7pm. Lapta Municipality Folk Dance night. Foreign teams and local
schools and association will be taking part. 8pm . Guzelyurt Ataturk
Cultural Centre has a theatre performance by the Ferhan Sensoy Theatre.
Saturday 17th May
8pm. Guzelyurt Sports Hall. A festival gala evening closes the
week-long series of events, along with a dance festival in the Ataturk
Cultural Centre. |
