Kyrenia Market. Wednesday weekly.
Kyrenia municipal open air market. Here you will find fantastic value on a vast range of goods, especially fruit, vegetables, cheeses, yoghurts, oils and vinegars (often brought in from the country by farming families), fish, footwear, clothing and all sorts of odds and ends.

Famagusta Market. Thursday weekly.
Here you can buy about everything you might need; clothing, household items, flowers, fish and fresh fruit and vegetables. You can also buy freshly pressed olive oil there, mostly made by the vendor itself (and it does come very often in re-used bottles of J&B, Bells or Teachers!).

Guzelyurt Market. Saturday weekly.
Everything from clothes, shoes, nuts, sweets, olive oil, honey, home made cheese as well as fruit and vegetables are sold. Produce is fresh, and local people are encouraged to sell the excess from their own gardens. The market opens early, and continues till about 1pm. It is situated on the main street opposite the museum and church.

Lambousa Market. Saturday weekly.
Chateau Lambousa Arts and Crafts Fair. 10am to 2.30pm (or later). Stallholders include homebaked pastries and pies, homemade jams and marmalades. CDs, DVDs and book stalls. A variety of clothing and jewellery, antiques, paintings, sculptures and other arts and crafts.

Children's Film Show. Saturday weekly.
2pm. Free film screenings for children (age 9 and up) at Sidestreets, Nicosia. The films are sometimes in English, sometimes Turkish. For information phone 0392 22 93070/71. Sidestreets is past the post office, and opposite the law courts.

Pop Concert, Saturday 28th April.
7.30pm, Girne Amphitheatre. The Bohemians play the music of Queen. The Bohemians, established in 1996, re-enact the glory days of Queen including the Craziness of the 70s and the Magic of the 80s proving themselves to be the most dynamic and exciting Queen Tribute Band currently touring. Their high-energy two hour show with full Staging, Lighting, Backdrops and Pyrotechnics has earned them the reputation of being the Worlds most exciting Queen Tribute act.
The Bohemians set includes all the piano driven hit singles: Killer Queen; Somebody To Love; Dont Stop Me Now; Youre My Best Friend; We Are The Champions and the amazing award winning Bohemian Rhapsody. These hits are balanced with the Guitar led anthems; Tie Your Mother Down; Hammer To Fall; One Vision; I Want It All; We Will Rock You and the Acoustic vocal tracks 39 and the unforgettable Love of my Life. KAR Annual Dog Show and Spring Fayre. Last Sunday in April.
10am  on the site of the Kyrenia Wednesday Market. It's KAR’s second largest fund raiser of the year and usually has about 1500 in attendance. Two judging rings and lots more besides. Entrance free.

ATA Art Exhibition, 24th to 27th April.
The Anglo Turkish Association art exhibition is being held at the Girne Public Library, close to the Colony Hotel. The exhibition opens at 6.30pm on Tuesday. It then opens from 10am to 5pm, closing at 4pm on Friday. For more information, call 0542 872 4291.

2012 Credit West Car Treasure Hunt, Sunday 29th April.
9am, Kervan Pizza Garden Restaurant (near the Mercure Hotel).  The route will take you on a leisurely 70-mile trip east of Kyrenia using some of the less travelled and most beautiful roads in Northern Cyprus, with plenty of places to stop along the way. You will be given route instructions along with a testing set of questions which will tax your powers of observation and knowledge of the island.  Arrival at the Malpas Hotell is expected around 2pm, with prize giving after lunch, at about 3pm. THE ROUTE IS ALL ON TARMAC ROADS.  HOWEVER, SOME OF THE ROAD ARE MOUNTAINOUS WITH BIG DROPS, BLIND BENDS AND NARROW SECTIONS.  Therefore, please check that your passengers, and indeed you, are comfortable with this. Entries will be limited and will be processed on a first come first served basis.  Final instructions will be issued one week before the event. Entry costs £10 , which includes breakfast and Lunch. A visit to the working village of Kozan where you can see the village bakery, cheese maker, coffee shop, pekmez maker, and wood carver for an insight into the production of local produce. Dance of Cyprus, Every Tuesday and Wednesday.
9pm GAU Spectrum Hall, Girne, Tuesdays.
Cyprus Night. A 90 minute celebration of traditional Cypriot dancing. Dances include a Sickle Dance, Whirling Dervish, Wedding Dances, and the Glass Dance. Tickets cost 35TL from 0542 881 0303
11am, midday, and 2pm, Bedestan, Nicosia, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Whirling Dervish Show. A 30 minute performance acted out by a Whirling Dervish. The performance is intense with the religious sentiments of the Mevlevis. Tickets cost 15TL from 0542 881 0303. Children’s Puppet Show, Saturday and Sunday till June.
12 noon and 3 pm, Girne Amphitheatre. A cast of 20 hand-made puppets present “Pinocchio” in Turkish, followed by shows in Russian. Tickets cost 15TL, and are available the amphitheatre from 9am to 5pm daily except Monday and Tuesday.

10am – 4pm daily, Bellapais Abbey Crypt. An exhibition of work by Kate Fensom, Max Dane, Sheila Davies, Maaxene Shailer, Margaret Bosworth, and Svetlana Ziuzina. They will be joined by photographer Andrea Christofi-Hunziker, Bernie Leber who has created driftwood sculptures, and Tzianet Freeman, who is responsible for the mosaic “Tree of Life” Entrance Free.
