Kyrenia municipal open air market. Here you will find fantastic
value on a vast range of goods, especially fruit, vegetables,
cheeses, yoghurts, oils and vinegars (often brought in from the
country by farming families), fish, footwear, clothing and all sorts
of odds and ends.

Famagusta Market.
Thursday weekly.
Here you can buy about everything you might need; clothing,
household items, flowers, fish and fresh fruit and vegetables. You
can also buy freshly pressed olive oil there, mostly made by the
vendor itself (and it does come very often in re-used bottles of
J&B, Bells or Teachers!).

Guzelyurt Market. Saturday weekly.
Everything from clothes, shoes, nuts, sweets, olive oil,
honey, home made cheese as well as fruit and vegetables are sold.
Produce is fresh, and local people are encouraged to sell the excess
from their own gardens. The market opens early, and continues till
about 1pm. It is situated on the main street opposite the museum and
church.

Friends Coffee Morning.
1st, 2nd 3rd and Last Wednesdays.
11am. Friends of those in Need coffee morning. The first 3
Wednesdays of the month will be at Ginko Restaurant, Namik Kemal
Square, Famagusta and is a social meeting. On the Last Wednesday,
it will be a fund-raising meeting at the Terrace Beach bar, Bogaz.

Eco-Tourism Association, the market has handicrafts, traditional
food, and local produce. Today will be special
as it’s a birthday party for the Ecotourism Association! There
will be lots of activities like folk dancing by MAGAM (Famagusta
Folk Dancing Troupe), craft demonstrations galore, oodles to eat
like kebabs and pastries, a skit on organic farming, donkey rides

Bingo, Wednesday Afternoons.
A bingo fundraiser for the charity takes place every Wednesday
afternoon at central Kyrenia's Watermill Hotel. Bingo books cost
each player YTL25 at the sessions, with 10% being donated to the
Cancer Charity. All of the remainder goes into the prize fund.

Arman Ratip,
Thursday Alternative Weeks.
8pm, Sabor Restaurant, Nicosia Pianist composer Arman Ratip plays a
selection of classical and jazz music for patrons, much of which he
has composed or arranged . Arman is a Turkish Cypriot who started
playing piano at the age of five. He studied music and pianoforte
with his mother Jale Dervis, one of the most famous music and piano
teachers on the island. He started composing at the age of seven,
fascinating audiences as a child prodigy. Later, his musical career
took off in London when he recorded two albums of his own
compositions and arrangements for EMI, and performed extensively in
the United Kingdom. He is hailed by music critics as one of the most
outstanding and captivating virtuosos of our times. Entrance is free

Greek Cypriot National Day,
Thursday 1st April
A more PC name for a Southern Cyprus holiday that is still commonly known as
"EOKA Day". The holiday celebrates the start of the
guerrilla campaign on April 1, 1955 when EOKA targeted
British military and civilian installations on the island.
It later also targeted Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot
collaborators and informants. The holiday is celebrated in
memorial services in churches and gatherings in cities and
villages in southern Cyprus. For all

Wild Flower and
Orchid Walk, Tuesdays, Thursday, and
Occasional Saturdays, March and April.
Hisarkoy. An all day experience. The morning walk is to the east of
the village over fairly gentle terrain. This lasts about two hours,
and is followed by lunch . The afternoon walk, which also lasts two
hours, is a gentle walk to the west towards an orchard glade, an
area of black tulips and other wild flowers. The circular route
takes in a medieval Maronite church, an Ottoman Turkish bath and a
bronze age tomb. The route is flexible, and can be varied depending
on the needs of the group. The cost is £15 per person. Numbers are

ATA Event, Wednesday 30th March.
11.30am, Eminaga Garden centre. The Anglo Turkish Association are
holding a Gardner’s Question Time. The programme will consist of a
talk by the owner, a garden tour and lunch. After the meal there
will be time to re-visit the garden. If you intend to be present,
please submit your gardening questions at least 5 days prior to the
event. Car sharing is advised, as parking is limited. Tickets cost

A night at the
Opera, Friday 1st April.
8.30 pm Bellapais Abbey. Soloists from the Turkish State Opera will
be performing. Tenor Ayhan Uskak, who has had many solo performances
in Ireland, Holland and Italy, will be joined by soprano Esin Tahnli.
Miss Tahnli has appeared at the prestigious Aspendos Festival, on
the ancient Roman amphitheatre near Antalya. They will be joined on

different ages will be performing popular classical pieces. The
young pianists are all students of Fatos Ozcelik Gunhanlar. Tickets
