Kyrenia municipal open air market. Here you will find fantastic
value on a vast range of goods, especially fruit, vegetables,
cheeses, yoghurts, oils and vinegars (often brought in from the
country by farming families), fish, footwear, clothing and all sorts

Famagusta Market. Friday weekly.
Here you can buy about everything you might need; clothing,
household items, flowers, fish and fresh fruit and vegetables. You
can also buy freshly pressed olive oil there, mostly made by the
vendor itself (and it does come very often in re-used bottles of

Guzelyurt Market. Saturday weekly.
Everything from clothes, shoes, nuts, sweets, olive oil,
honey, home made cheese as well as fruit and vegetables are sold.
Produce is fresh, and local people are encouraged to sell the excess
from their own gardens. The market opens early, and continues till
about 1pm. It is situated on the main street opposite the museum and

Turtle Nesting, June to August and Hatching end July to end
September (Approximate Dates)
North Cyprus is one of the few turtle nesting areas in the
Mediterranean. Every year student volunteers study these animals,
and you can join them on one of their overnight expeditions. Numbers
are limited, so it is essential that you pre-book at their
headquarters, “The Goatshed” at Alagadi. Around 60 days
later, the eggs begin to hatch. The volunteers give any stragglers a
hand once the sun starts going down, and you can watch this. Booking
is not necessary, but there is not an excavation every day, and
normally not an excavation on a Sunday. Public excavations will be
announced on this web site and the turtle blog. For more

The
Master of Istanbul, 6th
August.
Girne Amphitheatre. The Istanbul Municipality Theatre will present
The Master of Istanbul. The play tells the story of a Ottoman noble
who wishes to marry off his daughter. After consulting magicians and
astrologers, he decides to leave the decision to chance, with
unexpected consequences. Tickets cost 15TL, and are available from
the Girne Municipality.
Friends of those in
need swimalong. 3rd August.
6pm, Dee Hotel European swimming pool, near the Ataturk roundabout,
Famagusta. Any swimmer is welcome to take part. There’s no time
